Description
Wehrmacht Paper Estate
Named German paperwork estate belonging to Gregor Hecker, with documents covering his pre-war, wartime and post-war life. The group includes a certificate of possession for the Infantry Assault Badge / Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen, issued through Feldpost number 48878, connected with Grenadier-Regiment 753.
The archive also includes several Feldpost items, documents connected with the Deutsche Arbeitsfront / DAF, a driving-related permit, soldier photographs, identity and registration papers, employment documents, post-war records, a later Federal Republic of Germany passport, a denazification-related document and a death notice from 1982.
From a collector’s point of view, the interest of this group lies in the fact that the papers belong to one named individual rather than being a loose accumulation of unrelated documents. The archive follows Gregor Hecker through several stages of his life: civilian training and employment, wartime military service, Allied occupation documentation and later post-war personal records.
The strongest wartime piece in the group is the Infantry Assault Badge certificate, connected with Grenadier-Regiment 753. The regiment formed part of the 326. Infanterie-Division, a formation associated with the Normandy campaign. This gives the archive a more specific military context than a generic Wehrmacht paperwork group.
The condition varies from item to item, as expected in a mixed paper estate. The documents show age, folds, handling marks, toning, small tears, edge wear, punched holes, stamps and period writing. The photographs form an important part of the description and should be reviewed carefully.
Offered as a historical document archive only.
Wehrmacht Paper Estate: Historical Context
This archive relates to a German individual whose paperwork spans the 1930s, the Second World War, the immediate post-war occupation period and later civilian life in West Germany.
The wartime centrepiece is the Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen certificate, a type of award document connected with front-line infantry service. The certificate is linked to Grenadier-Regiment 753, which was part of the 326. Infanterie-Division. The regiment and division are of particular interest to collectors because of their connection with the Normandy campaign.
The post-war material adds another layer of context. Documents such as Allied registration papers, denazification-related records, employment papers and later personal documents show how one individual’s life continued after the collapse of the Third Reich. This makes the archive more than a purely military group; it is a documentary file of one man’s life before, during and after the war.
Collector’s Interest
What makes this archive interesting is its continuity. Many WWII paper groups are incomplete or mixed from different sources. Here, the documents appear to relate to one named person, Gregor Hecker, which gives the lot a clearer identity and research value.
The main collector interest is found in:
- The ISA / Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen certificate
- The connection with Grenadier-Regiment 753
- The Feldpost material with identifiable numbers
- The soldier photographs
- The DAF and pre-war employment/training papers
- The Allied occupation and denazification-related material
- The later West German passport and death notice
For a collector of German military documents, the value is not only in one paper, but in the way the group can be read as a complete personal archive.
Condition and Authenticity Note
The estate shows honest age and handling consistent with original paper material of the period. Some items have folds, marks, stains, edge wear, punched holes and small losses. The documents and photographs should be assessed from the images provided.
The archive is offered as an original historical paperwork group based on its format, paper, stamps, writing, photographs and period consistency. As with all military documents, independent review is recommended if the buyer requires formal authentication.
