Description

Das Führerkorps: Overview

A Sammelbilderalbum (collector picture album) of the late 1930s, “Das Führerkorps des Dritten Reiches”, published by Gauverlag Bayerische Ostmark GmbH, Bayreuth. Its pages combine printed biographies with mounted portrait pictures of political leaders, ministers and regional officials of the Nazi state. The signatures on some portrait pages are printed facsimiles, not autographs.

Historical Context

Collector albums were a mass medium of the period: pictures were collected and mounted in printed albums. This one presented the regime’s leadership hierarchy in a formal, structured way, and it is a direct example of how political authority was promoted through popular printed media before the war. Its language reflects the propaganda aims of the original publication.
