Description

40 Year Faithful Service Decoration: Overview

A Faithful Service Decoration for 40 years in the gold grade, with its blue ribbon mounted in the traditional triangular style and fitted with a pin. The gilt cross carries a black enamel central emblem within an oak-leaf wreath, and the reverse is inscribed “Für treue Dienste” (For Faithful Service).

Historical Context

The Treudienst-Ehrenzeichen was instituted in 1938 to recognise long and loyal service in public administration and state-related institutions. The 25-year grade was silver-coloured and the 40-year grade gold-coloured. As a civil and administrative award, it reflects the bureaucratic structure of the state rather than the battlefield.

  • Obverse: gilt cross over oak-leaf wreath, black enamel centre

Condition

Good for its age. The gilt surface remains attractive, with age wear, light patina and small signs of handling. The ribbon shows texture, age and natural folds. The enamel centre is strong. The photographs show the actual piece and form part of the description.
