Description

WWII German Badge Lot: Overview

A mixed group of German badges from civil, rescue and organisational life in the 1930s and the war years, rather than a set of identical decorations. The centrepiece is a large oval badge of the German Red Cross water rescue service.

What the Lot Contains

  • DRK Wasserrettungsdienst badge: large oval badge with the German Red Cross emblem, eagle, red cross and stylised blue water, inscribed “Deutsches Rotes Kreuz – Wasserrettungsdienst”.
  • Fire brigade emblem: metal badge with a firefighter’s helmet and crossed tools. Fire brigades were a key part of German municipal emergency services.
  • Badge dated 12–14.1.1933: circular bronze-coloured badge with architectural imagery and the dates; reverse fitting present.
  • Silver-coloured badge: circular, with spiral or radial decoration; the reverse inscription appears to include “Thüringisch”.
  • Small enamelled flag badge with period German symbolism.
