Description

WWII German Third Reich Badge: Overview

Six pieces covering several areas of German insignia: a uniform cap badge, enamelled veterans’ membership awards and a pressed event badge. Together they show different forms of German insignia of 1930s and war-period types.

What the Lot Contains

  • Visor-cap wreath and cockade: large, silver-coloured, with extended wings, oak leaves and the national cockade, the form used for Luftwaffe peaked-cap insignia.
  • Two veterans’ badges marked 25 and 40: enamelled in red, black and white with metallic detail, of the type associated with German veterans’ associations and the Kyffhäuser tradition, indicating years of membership.
  • 1934 badge: large circular bronze-coloured badge with a male head, industrial imagery and the eagle, in the Tag der Arbeit (National Labour Day) tradition.
  • Eagle badge (silver-coloured) and a small circular insignia, both with mounting elements.

No further provenance is recorded.

Authenticity

The lot is sold as a group of collector’s insignia. Not every piece can be confirmed as a period original, and some may be later pieces or reproductions; the lot is described and priced on that basis. The pieces are identified from their design, inscriptions and construction. Where these do not allow a confident identification, no attribution is made. A more detailed opinion on any individual piece is available on request.

Legal Note

Some pieces carry symbols whose display, sale or import is restricted in certain countries. Each collector is responsible for the rules of their own country.
