Description

Original WWII German Third Reich Badge Lot: Overview

A study group of seven German badges, tinnies and commemorative pieces of the 1930s, combining different designs, materials and construction methods. The principal pieces are a large Reichsparteitag 1936 badge and a 1933 badge with a stylised eagle above a geometric emblem.

Historical Context

German political organisations, youth movements, associations and events produced thousands of different badges in the 1930s and early 1940s: membership badges, rally and event souvenirs, fundraising pieces and commemorative tinnies. The Nuremberg party rallies alone generated an enormous range of official and unofficial souvenirs, now a distinct collecting field.

What the Lot Contains

  • Large circular badge dated 1936, inscribed “Reichsparteitag”
  • Badge dated 1933 with stylised eagle above a geometric emblem
  • Smaller badges with eagle motifs and circular geometric designs
  • A miniature axe-shaped badge
