Description
1942 Polish Civilian Arbeitsbuch: Overview
A work book issued on 21 April 1942 by the Arbeitsamt Lissa, Nebenstelle Rawitsch (Leszno and Rawicz, in the Polish territories annexed in 1939), to a civilian classified as “Nicht Reichsdeutscher” (not a Reich German). It keeps the portrait photograph under an employment-office stamp, handwritten details, signature and an earlier occupation recorded as self-employed farmer from 1932.
Historical Context
In the annexed territories, work books were part of the system by which the occupation administration registered and controlled the labour of the local population. The classification recorded here is part of that bureaucratic record and is not interpreted further.
