Description

1942 Generalgouvernement Arbeitskarte: Overview

A bilingual German-Polish work card of the Generalgouvernement, titled “Arbeitskarte / Karta Pracy”, issued on 15 August 1942 by the Arbeitsamt Tschenstochau, the German employment office in Częstochowa. The issue page carries the office stamp with eagle device, file references and a signature; another cover section has a handwritten name label. The employment pages are largely unused.

Historical Context

In the Generalgouvernement, the German occupation authority in central Poland, labour offices registered workers, supervised employment and controlled movement between jobs. The card documents that system. On its own it does not prove a specific work assignment or forced-labour deployment, and none is claimed.
