Description
WWII German Third Reich Badge Lot: Overview
Six different pieces of German political, commemorative and specialist insignia from the 1930s. The interest of the lot lies in its variety: event badges (tinnies), metal insignia and an embroidered trade badge. Four pieces can be identified with confidence from their designs and inscriptions; the other two are deliberately left unattributed.
What the Lot Contains
- “Deutsch ist die Saar 1934”: octagonal badge with eagle and the inscriptions “Deutsch ist die Saar” and “Des Deutschen Ehre ist die Treue”, linked to the campaign before the Saar’s return to German administration in 1935.
- Reichsparteitag 1936 tinnie: event badge of the 1936 Nuremberg party rally.
- 1 Mai 1938 badge: Tag der Arbeit (Labour Day) badge of 1938.
- Farrier trade badge: dark circular cloth badge embroidered with a yellow-gold horseshoe, corresponding to the German Army qualified farrier insignia.
- Two further pieces: an openwork circular badge with eagle motif, and an oval piece combining metal and textile. Without clear marks or inscriptions, they are not attributed.
