Description

Original 1933 German Reichstag Election Ballot from the Südhannover-Braunschweig electoral district.

This original period document is a German Reichstag election ballot from the electoral district of Südhannover-Braunschweig, dating from one of the most important and politically dramatic moments in twentieth-century European history. The ballot is headed “Reichstagswahl” and lists the competing political parties and candidate groups present in the election, including the National Socialist German Workers’ Party, the Social Democratic Party of Germany, the Communist Party of Germany, the Centre Party, Kampffront Schwarz-Weiß-Rot, the German People’s Party, the Christian Social People’s Service, the German State Party, the German Farmers’ Party and the Deutsch-Hannoversche Partei.

As a primary historical document, this ballot offers a direct visual record of the political fragmentation of Germany at the end of the Weimar Republic. It is not a later reproduction, modern print or decorative copy, but an original paper document from the period. Its value lies in its documentary importance: it shows the electoral structure, typography, party order and political environment of Germany at the point when democratic institutions were under extreme pressure and the country was entering a new and deeply consequential historical phase.

Collectors of political ephemera, German historical documents, election material and interwar European history will find this item especially interesting because it preserves the complete list format of the ballot rather than a single-party leaflet or propaganda sheet. The document is therefore best understood as a historical election artifact: a surviving piece of administrative and political paper history connected to the last phase of multi-party parliamentary life in Germany before the consolidation of dictatorship.

The design is simple but historically powerful. The top heading identifies the election, followed by the district name “Wahlkreis Südhannover-Braunschweig”. Each party appears in a numbered row, with the corresponding voting circle on the right-hand side. The typography, layout and official electoral format make the piece highly displayable, especially for a collection focused on European history, political systems, the Weimar Republic, election processes or original twentieth-century documents.

The condition is consistent with age and handling. The paper shows natural toning, minor wear and signs of age, as expected for an original document from the early 1930s. Please review the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description and show the exact condition of the piece offered.

This item is sold strictly as a historical collectible, research document and educational artifact. It is not offered to promote, support, glorify or endorse any political party, ideology, regime or movement. The purpose of this listing is historical preservation, documentation and study. Items of this nature are important not because of any ideological message, but because they help preserve the physical evidence of a period whose consequences shaped modern Europe and world history.

A scarce and meaningful original election document, suitable for serious collectors of historical paper, political ephemera, German history and original interwar European documents.
