Description
This original 1943 Hitler facsimile and Heinrich Himmler hand-signed promotion document is an important surviving administrative record from the Second World War period. Issued from the Führer Headquarters on 12 July 1943, the certificate appoints Major der Schutzpolizei a.D. Oskar Lehmann to the honorary rank of Oberstleutnant der Schutzpolizei.
The document is visually impressive, combining formal printed typography, official institutional wording, a large embossed seal and two distinct signatures of major historical relevance. At its centre appears the printed designation “Der Führer,” beneath which is the facsimile signature of Adolf Hitler. The lower section carries the handwritten signature of Heinrich Himmler, signed in his capacity as representative of the Reich Minister of the Interior.
This Hitler facsimile and Heinrich Himmler hand-signed promotion document is particularly interesting because it reflects the administrative structure of the German police system during the final years of the Second World War. The appointment concerns the Schutzpolizei, the uniformed police branch whose officers operated within an increasingly centralised state apparatus. Documents relating to police promotions are sought after by collectors because they combine military, political and civil-administrative history in one original wartime artefact.
The Adolf Hitler facsimile signature forms part of the official printed design of the document. It is not represented as a handwritten autograph. The principal autograph element is the bold handwritten Heinrich Himmler signature at the lower right, positioned above the printed wording indicating representation of the Reich Ministry of the Interior. This distinction is important for collectors and is clearly reflected in the description of the piece.
The large-format certificate is printed on cream-toned official paper and features a central embossed state seal. It has retained strong visual impact despite period folds, light age toning and handling marks consistent with an original document more than eighty years old. These marks are part of its history and should be considered normal for an official wartime certificate that was originally stored, handled and folded.
For collectors of World War II documents, German police history, signed historical paperwork and original wartime administrative material, this item offers an unusual combination of elements. It is not simply a printed certificate. The handwritten Himmler signature gives the document its principal collector value, while the Hitler facsimile signature, official title, dated issue and embossed seal provide the wider historical context.
The certificate was issued to Oskar Lehmann, named in full within the central text. Such named documents are more desirable than anonymous examples because they preserve a direct connection to the individual recipient and the bureaucratic process through which the promotion was granted. The rank of Oberstleutnant der Schutzpolizei was a senior police rank, making this a substantial appointment document rather than a routine identification paper.
This item is offered strictly as an original historical and documentary artefact. It is intended for collectors, researchers, museums, educational displays and those studying the administrative systems, police structures and documentary history of the Second World War. It is not offered to promote, endorse or glorify any ideology associated with the period.
A striking and historically important original certificate combining a Hitler facsimile signature with a bold handwritten Heinrich Himmler autograph, dated 1943 and issued in connection with a Schutzpolizei promotion.
