Description
Francisco Franco 1929: Overview
A folding four-page mourning notice dated Zaragoza, February 1929, recording the death of Colonel Antonio Alonso y Sánchez de Arcilla, an officer connected with the 5th Intendance Troops Command, with the note “La familia no recibe”. Three sides carry handwritten condolences and signatures, among them that of Francisco Franco.
Historical Context
In 1929 Franco was a general and Director of the Academia General Militar in Zaragoza, so date and place are consistent with his career at the time. The signature belongs to his pre-Civil War military period. Not all other signatories have been identified, and none is named without evidence.
