Description
This Albert Kesselring prison letter 1952 is an original handwritten autograph letter signed by Albert Kesselring and dated 3 July 1952. Written in German to his wife, Liny, the letter is a complete personal document on one sheet, with handwriting on both sides and a closing signature reading “Albert”. Its private format, date and family recipient distinguish it from a routine autograph card or later signed photograph.
The Albert Kesselring prison letter 1952 was written during the post-war period while Kesselring remained in custody following his conviction for war crimes. The letter therefore belongs to a historically sensitive period of European history and must be understood within its full context. It is offered exclusively as an original historical document for archival preservation, academic research, responsible collecting and educational study. It does not promote, endorse, minimise or glorify war, dictatorship, political extremism, military actions or any associated ideology.
For collectors, the principal value of this Albert Kesselring prison letter 1952 is its personal nature. Unlike formal correspondence on letterhead or a detached signature, this is a private handwritten communication addressed to his wife. The content is written entirely in German and remains untranslated. The letter carries a date at the upper right corner, “3.7.52”, and concludes with a handwritten signature at the lower section of the page.
The sheet is written in blue ink, with dense handwritten text occupying both the front and reverse. It is a complete autograph letter rather than a fragment, unsigned page or clipped signature. The presence of writing on both sides gives the piece additional documentary character and preserves it as a genuine personal communication from the immediate post-war era.
The letter has visible age-related characteristics consistent with its history and use. The paper shows fold lines, handling wear, light overall toning and a small number of stains or marks near the lower area. These signs should be regarded as part of its original period condition. The paper remains intact and the handwriting is still visible, although the reverse is lighter and may be more difficult to read in places due to the ink showing through from the front.
This Albert Kesselring prison letter 1952 has clear interest for collectors of original historical correspondence, post-war German documents, autograph letters signed, twentieth-century archival material and military-history documents. Its strength lies in the date, the handwritten format, the direct family address and the fact that it was signed at the conclusion by the writer himself.
No full transcription or translation is included with the letter unless expressly stated. The item is sold as an original German-language historical document. Buyers should review the available photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description and show the writing, signature, folds, paper condition and stains.
Only the original handwritten letter is included in the sale. No envelope, certificate of authenticity, frame, display stand, transcript or other accessory is included unless specifically stated. The letter should be preserved in an acid-free archival sleeve and protected from moisture, direct sunlight, adhesive materials and repeated handling. For display, museum-grade framing with UV-filtering glass is recommended.
This Albert Kesselring prison letter 1952 is offered strictly as a historical and documentary collectible. Its value lies in its authenticity as an original handwritten post-war letter, its personal correspondence format and its relevance for responsible historical study. It should be preserved with appropriate context and sensitivity toward the victims and consequences of the period.
A scarce and compelling original handwritten autograph letter from 1952, addressed to Kesselring’s wife and signed “Albert”. A strong addition for a carefully contextualised archive of twentieth-century correspondence and historical documents.
