Description

This original German Reisepass is a highly attractive civilian travel passport issued in 1932 to Peter Stein, with his wife Marie Stein also included in the document. Unlike many single-holder passports, this example is especially appealing because it contains two original portrait photographs: one of the male passport holder and one of his wife. Both photographs remain attached to the identification page and are connected to the document by official ink stamps, giving the piece strong visual and documentary value.

The cover reads “Deutsches Reich – Reise-Pass” and shows the period German eagle emblem printed in black on a brown card cover. The exterior has a simple and sober administrative appearance, typical of official travel documents from this era. Inside, the title page reads “Deutsches Reich – Reisepass” and includes the passport number, the handwritten name Peter Stein, the accompanying wife Marie Stein, and the nationality entry. The document contains 32 printed pages.

The passport was issued in Mannheim on 22 December 1932, as shown on the identification page. The personal description page records handwritten details for both the main holder and his wife, including occupation, place of birth, date of birth, place of residence, physical description, eye colour and hair colour. These handwritten entries give the document a strong personal character and make it more interesting than a blank or lightly completed example.

Another attractive feature is the presence of a Baden revenue stamp inside the front cover, together with several official stamps and later travel / visa entries. The final pages show handwritten travel-related annotations and multiple ink stamps, including entries from the 1930s. These marks suggest the passport was actively used rather than simply issued and stored. For collectors, this makes the item more complete and historically engaging, as it preserves both identity information and traces of actual travel administration.

This piece is suitable for collectors of original German passports, civilian identity documents, interwar European paperwork, travel documents, stamped passports, genealogical ephemera and administrative history. It is also a good display item because the interior pages have strong visual appeal: portrait photographs, stamps, signatures, official printed borders, handwritten entries and period security-pattern paper.

Condition is used and consistent with an original document of this age. The cover shows rubbing, age toning, handling marks, light staining, edge wear and softened corners. The interior pages remain presentable, with visible writing, official stamps and attached photographs. There are signs of use, minor paper ageing, small marks, folds and general wear from handling and storage. The photographs, stamps and main written entries remain clearly visible. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an essential part of the description.

This is not a modern reproduction or decorative facsimile, but an original period travel document with named holders, issue details, official stamps and later travel annotations. Its collector value lies in its completeness, the dual portrait photographs, the Mannheim issue details and the presence of multiple official marks.

The item is offered strictly as a historical collectible for research, collecting and documentation purposes. It is not offered with any political or ideological meaning. The interest of the piece is documentary, historical and administrative.

A strong and visually appealing 1932 German Reisepass, issued to Peter Stein and including his wife Marie Stein, with original photographs, official Mannheim issue stamp, Baden revenue stamp and later travel entries.
