Description

This original German Arbeitsbuch, or work record booklet, belonged to Emil Berg, born on 27 March 1902. The document contains handwritten personal information, official registration stamps and employment-related entries, making it an interesting piece of German social, labour and administrative history.

Unlike military documents, an Arbeitsbuch was connected to civilian employment and labour registration. It recorded personal details, occupations, work changes and employer confirmations. This example is particularly attractive because it preserves several handwritten entries, official ink stamps and period administrative typography. The booklet gives a direct view into the working life of an individual named Emil Berg, whose occupation is recorded in connection with skilled manual work, including references to Schlosser and Mechaniker, meaning locksmith/metalworker and mechanic.

The inside title page identifies the holder as Emil Berg and records his birth date as 27 March 1902. The place name appears in the document as Rottweiler-Schwanden / Rottweiler Schwanden, as written in the original booklet. The pages shown include official stamps, handwritten signatures and employment-related dates, including entries from 1919 and 1922. These early employment references add historical depth, as they suggest the booklet preserved or registered earlier working history rather than simply remaining blank.

The document is visually appealing for collectors because of its clean layout, gothic-style printed headings, official stamp impressions and handwritten period script. The cover is plain brown card, showing age-related wear, light staining, rubbing to the corners and general patina consistent with a used period document. The interior pages remain legible and retain strong collector value because the personal and employment sections are filled in rather than empty.

This type of item is ideal for collectors of German documents, civilian administration, labour history, occupational records, identity-related paperwork and early twentieth-century European ephemera. It also fits well within a collection focused on everyday historical documentation rather than purely military material. Civilian records such as this help complete the wider picture of German society during the period, showing how employment, trade skills and official registration were recorded at an individual level.

The condition is clearly shown in the photographs. There is visible age toning, wear to the cover, minor marks, softened corners and signs of handling. These details are part of the historical character of the piece. The booklet appears complete from the visible images, although only the photographed pages are guaranteed as shown. The buyer should review all photographs carefully, as they form an essential part of the description.

This is a genuine historical collectible offered for documentation, research and collecting purposes only. It is not offered with any political meaning, endorsement or ideological association. The value of the item lies in its documentary, historical and collector interest.

A strong and honest example of a German Arbeitsbuch connected to a named individual, with attractive handwritten entries, official stamps and a clear civilian employment history.
