Description

Wilhelm Frick Signed Schutzpolizei Promotion Document – Original 1942 WWII Appointment Proposal

This Wilhelm Frick signed Schutzpolizei promotion document is an original German administrative record dated Berlin, 23 March 1942. It concerns the proposed promotion of Hauptmann der Schutzpolizei Walter Tietz to the rank of Major der Schutzpolizei during the Second World War. Issued through the Reich Ministry of the Interior, the document was sent to the Presidential Chancellery of the Führer and Reich Chancellor as part of the official appointment process.

The Wilhelm Frick signed Schutzpolizei promotion document is a complete surviving example of wartime German state administration. It is not a detached autograph, signature cut, modern print or later reproduction. The piece combines original administrative content, official ministry formatting, dated stamps, handwritten annotations and Wilhelm Frick’s signature on one historically coherent document.

The heading identifies the issuing authority as “Der Reichsminister des Innern”, meaning the Reich Minister of the Interior. The principal text is headed “Vorschlag zur Ernennung”, or “Proposal for Appointment”. It recommends Walter Tietz, then a Hauptmann of the Schutzpolizei, for promotion to Major der Schutzpolizei. The paper therefore records an identifiable personnel action within the wartime German police administration.

The Wilhelm Frick signed Schutzpolizei promotion document contains several important features for collectors of original World War II paperwork. It includes the dated Berlin entry of 23 March 1942, a reference to the applicable salary group, official routing to the Presidential Chancellery, filing annotations and multiple administrative stamps. A notation on the document confirms that the Party Chancellery had raised no objection to the proposed appointment.

The signature of Wilhelm Frick is handwritten and appears in the lower central area of the main proposal. This is the principal autograph feature of the document. Frick was Reich Minister of the Interior at the time and his office was responsible for a large range of internal governmental and police administration. The document is offered only as historical evidence of this wartime state structure and should be interpreted with full awareness of the oppressive and criminal nature of the regime it served.

The lower section contains a response dated 26 March 1942 from the Presidential Chancellery. It states that the appointment certificate should be issued with the facsimile signature of the Führer and Reich Chancellor. This is important for correct cataloguing: the document does not contain an original handwritten Adolf Hitler signature. The wording refers to a separate appointment certificate that was to be produced using a facsimile signature. The collector value of this document rests on the original Frick signature, the identified promotion proposal, its wartime date and the full administrative sequence visible on the page.

The document is directly connected to the Second World War period. It was created in March 1942, at a time when Nazi Germany was conducting war across Europe and the internal institutions of the state continued operating through formal orders, personnel files, police promotions and ministerial procedures. Unlike a generic printed certificate, this example preserves the bureaucratic path of a specific officer’s advancement through the Schutzpolizei.

Condition is good for a wartime government document. The sheet shows age toning, fold lines, filing holes at the left edge, small edge wear and period handling marks. There are handwritten inventory or archival numbers, official stamps and blue-pencil notations. These features are part of the document’s authentic administrative character and should not be removed or altered. The signature remains visible and is the principal visual focus of the lower portion of the main proposal.

This Wilhelm Frick signed Schutzpolizei promotion document is suitable for advanced collections of World War II documents, original German administrative papers, historical autographs, police-history material and wartime personnel records. Its appeal comes from the combination of a named officer, precise March 1942 date, interior ministry heading, routing through the Presidential Chancellery and original signature.

Only the original document shown is included in the sale. No certificate of authenticity, frame, translation, separate appointment certificate or additional paperwork is included unless expressly stated. The item should be stored in an acid-free archival sleeve and protected from direct sunlight, humidity, adhesive tape and repeated handling.

This Wilhelm Frick signed Schutzpolizei promotion document is offered strictly for historical research, preservation, education and responsible collecting. It does not support, endorse, excuse or glorify National Socialism, its institutions, its officials, its ideology or its crimes.
