Description
This WWII German Third Reich insignia lot brings together seven different badges, tinnies and commemorative pieces associated with Germany during the 1930s and Second World War period. Rather than representing a single organization or award category, the group offers a varied cross-section of German political, civil, military and commemorative insignia, making it particularly interesting for collectors who enjoy mixed historical lots.
One of the most immediately recognizable pieces is the circular badge dated “1 Mai 1936”, displaying industrial and agricultural imagery together with the German eagle and period political symbolism. May Day badges and event tinnies became an important part of the visual culture of Germany during the 1930s, and dated examples are especially useful to collectors because they can be placed within a precise historical context.
Also included is a small oval enamel badge displaying a black eagle above a prominent red cross. The design is associated with the Deutsches Rotes Kreuz, or German Red Cross, whose period insignia frequently incorporated the eagle and red-cross motif. The enamel surface remains clearly visible despite evident age and wear.
The largest item in the group is an oval military-style badge with a prominent anti-aircraft artillery gun surrounded by an ornamental wreath and surmounted by an eagle. Its substantial size makes it visually dominant within the lot and particularly suitable for display alongside other German military insignia.
Another smaller metal badge shows crossed military-style elements accompanied by the numerals 19 and 32, together with period German symbolism. Additional pieces include a dark eagle-form insignia, a large bronze-coloured circular medallion with a mother-and-child relief, and another circular metal piece whose reverse retains a horizontal pin fitting and stamped lettering.
The reverse photograph is particularly useful for collectors because it shows the different construction methods and fastening systems. Several pieces retain their pins or attachment mechanisms, while others display considerable age, oxidation, surface wear, discoloration and loss of finish. These characteristics should be carefully reviewed in the photographs, which form an important part of the description.
As a group, INS72 is especially attractive as a German Third Reich badge collection, offering several different design types rather than multiple examples of the same insignia. It would fit naturally into a collection focused on WWII German militaria, political tinnies, German organization badges, historical enamel pins or civilian memorabilia from the 1930s and 1940s.
The lot is offered exactly as photographed. The pieces display varying levels of preservation, with visible patina, oxidation, scratches, staining, surface deterioration and wear consistent with their age and previous storage. No attempt has been made to cosmetically restore the items, allowing their existing surfaces and historical character to remain visible.
These artifacts are offered exclusively as historical and collectible material. Their sale and description do not imply support for, promotion of or sympathy with National Socialism or any totalitarian ideology.
INS72 contains seven different badges, tinnies, insignia and commemorative pieces associated with German collecting from the 1930s and WWII period.
Does the lot include a dated badge?

Are the backs of the badges visible?

What condition are the pieces in?
