Description
This Third Reich WWII German badge and insignia collection brings together six historical pieces representing several different areas of German political, veterans’ association and military material culture from the 1930s and Second World War era.
The most visually prominent piece in the group is a large silver-coloured Luftwaffe visor cap wreath and cockade insignia, formed with extended wings, oak-leaf decoration and the central national cockade. This distinctive configuration was associated with Luftwaffe peaked-cap insignia and makes the group particularly interesting for collectors of German aviation and uniform accessories.
Also included are two enamelled veteran-association badges featuring red, black, white and metallic detailing. The badges carry the numerals 25 and 40, identifying different long-service or membership periods. Badges of this general configuration are associated with German veterans’ organisations and the Kyffhäuser tradition; surviving 25- and 40-year membership pieces are a recognised collecting field within Third Reich organisational insignia.
Another particularly attractive item is the large circular bronze-coloured 1934 commemorative tinnie. Its design incorporates a male head, industrial imagery, a national eagle and the year 1934. This iconography corresponds to German National Labour Day / Tag der Arbeit event badges produced during the early years of the Third Reich. Such event badges were manufactured in large numbers but survive today in numerous different designs, makers and materials, making them an established area of specialist collecting.
The collection additionally contains a silver-coloured eagle-type badge and a smaller circular insignia. Both retain visible period-style mounting or fastening elements and contribute to the variety of the group.
The reverse photograph is particularly useful because it shows the construction of the pieces, including pin systems, attachment hardware, surface wear and surviving markings. Some pieces show clear oxidation, patination, finish loss and age-related wear. These characteristics have intentionally not been cleaned or restored, preserving their current collector appearance.
As a complete group, the collection is considerably more interesting than a single generic badge because it illustrates several different forms of German insignia production: enamelled membership awards, pressed or cast event badges, uniform-related insignia and organisational pieces.
This German WWII militaria badge lot would be especially suitable for collectors interested in Third Reich insignia, Luftwaffe cap badges, German veterans’ association badges, Kyffhäuser memorabilia, 1934 German tinnies, political event badges and WWII German militaria.
The items are offered as historical collectibles connected with the study of twentieth-century German history and militaria. Any political symbols visible on the objects form part of their historical context and are presented solely for collecting, documentation and educational purposes.
Condition is exactly as shown in the photographs. Please examine both the obverse and reverse images carefully, as they form an important part of the description and document the individual condition of every piece.
